By Huraizah Ahmad

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some traditional cuisine will be featured in the Flavours of Penang and Nyonya dinner promotion at the RBC Seasons Restaurant.

The feast, also inclusive of Penang`s popular dishes, will highlight Asian favourites like Rojak Mamak, Nyonya Popiah, Pasembur, Soup Tulang Berempah, Steam Nyonya Fish, Ayam Pongteh and many more.

It is available from April 23 to May 6 between 7pm and 10pm for $22 for adults and $13.50 per child. Various Malay appetisers, such as Acar Nenas, Otak Otak, Ulam and stuffed bean curd, will be a part of the salad bar.

In addition, a hawker style ambience is also going to be created with separate food stations for the buffet line. Dessert choices will include Kueh Onde Onde, Pulut Inti and colourful Nyonya delicacies.

Popular Nyonya dishes are an interesting amalgamation of Chinese and Malay cuisine thought to have originated from the Peranakan of Malacca over 400 years ago. The unique culture is said to have resulted from inter-marriages between Chinese immigrants and the local Malays during that era.
