Ministry To Allocate Funds For Study On `Adat Pepatih`

Padang - Malaysia`s Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry will allocate funds for a study on the origin of "Adat Pepatih".

Announcing this today, Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said the study was important to conserve the Malay custom that was losing its significance.

Malaysia was also ready to cooperate with Indonesia`s West Sumatran region in the study, he told reporters here.

"The Adat Pepatih custom practised in Negeri Sembilan originated from this region.

"The proposed study is for the knowledge of future generations," said Rais who is on a three-day visit to West Sumatra following the Malaysia-Indonesia "Titian Budaya" programme.

He said the visit was also aimed at finding artefacts for the Custom Museum in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan, that was expected to be opened next month.
