Literary Writers, Lecturers, Others To Attend PSB4

Bandar Seri Begawan - Over 200 participants comprising literary writers, lecturers, students and government representatives are expected to participate in the biennial literary gathering commencing today at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), Berakas, in a bid to strengthen and elevate local literature to the level of its regional counterparts.

Entitled ‘Pertemuan Sasterawan Brunei Ke 4 (PSB4),‘ the official opening ceremony of the largest literature gathering in the Sultanate will take place at Balai Sarmayuda, DBP at 8 am.

Haji Daud is expected to deliver a speech and launch DBP‘s new publications.

The event will also see DBP Director Dr Mataim bin Bakar delivering a speech welcoming participants to the gathering in their efforts to enhance the quality of local literature.

The chief guest will lead the guests and participants to see a related exhibition at the lobby of the DBP building as well as present souvenirs and certificates.

Participants at the three-day gathering will hear various working papers towards lifting the status of local Malay literature, which will be delivered by intellectuals, academicians and writers,
A literature forum comprising of three panels will take place tomorrow afternoon where several resolutions are expected to be adopted. The resolutions of PSB4 will be delivered to relevant agencies for possible adoption and action.

The closing ceremony of the PSB4 will take place on Thursday morning, where souvenirs and certificates will be presented.
