Bandar Seri Begawan - Local poet Hj Moksin bin Hj Abd Kadir, better known as "K Manis", departed for Bangkok, Thailand yesterday afternoon to accept the SEAWrite Award 2007 in recognition of his long involvement in local Malay literature.
Hj Moksin will be this year‘s recipient for Brunei Darussalam along with nine other literary writers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations member countries.
Bidding him farewell at the Brunei International Airport in Berakas were Dayang Aminah bte Hj Momin, the Deputy Director of Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) and her staff; members of Brunei Darussalam SEAWrite Award Judging Committee; and previous SEAWrite Awardees.
Hj Mokin is officially accompanied by Awang Suip Hj Wahab, a DBP Language Officer.
Commencing today Hj Moksin will attend the SEAWrite Award Week that will end Friday with a gala dinner and award presentation ceremony presided by HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana of Thailand at the Royal Ballroom, The Oriental Hotel.
Today Hj Moksin will attend "Meet the Authors" session; a panel discussion organized by Thailand National Library with PEN Club and Writers‘ Association of Thailand at the National Library in Bangkok.
