Representatives Going To Bangkok For Prophet Commemoration

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two Bruneian representatives have been invited to the annual commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad at the International Islamic Affairs Centre at Nong Chok, Bangkok, Thailand. The celebration is due to take place from November 1-5, 2007.

Awang Haji Marzuki bin Haji Abd Rahman, accompanying officer, and Awangku Muhammad Adibul Amin bin Pengiran Haji Marjuki, Qari participant, left for Bangkok yesterday.

Awangku Muhammad Adibul Amin, 20, is a graduate of Universiti Brunei Darussalam. He was the champion at the Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran for higher education institutions in 2005.

He reached the quarterfinals and semifinals of the national reading of al-Quran for adults competitions in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

He was also champion at the Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran Belia Kebangsaan 2005 and came third in the national reading of al-Quran for adults competition in 2005.

Brunei Darussalam was first invited in 1992 to the Maulud Nabi celebrations in Suan Amphom, Thailand.

In 2006, Brunei Darussalam, represented by Awg Muhd Fahmie bin Haji Metussin, was also invited to perform at the Maulud Nabi celebrations.
