Jakarta - Indonesia‘s senior artist Titik Puspa celebrated her 70th birthday by planting 70 trees on the bank of Western Flood Bypass in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Sunday.
"In terms of age, I get a bonus from God that has enabled me to live till the age of 70 years. Thus I thank God and remain to care of the environment," Titik said.
Titik said she had the initiative to plant the trees as she was concerned over west mass media‘s reports accusing Indonesia of not being friendly to the environment.
"I am sad to learn that all. Let‘s take measures sincerely to help our beloved country," she said.
To show her care of the environment, the senior actress was yelling "Save the Earth" followed by other guests attending the function celebrating her birthday.
On hand at the function were State Minister for the Environment Rachmat Witoelar, head of the Jakarta garden affairs office Sarwo Handayani and Central Jakarta Mayor Muhayat among other dignitaries.
The celebration was also attended by a number of artists including personnel of music group Slank, AB Three, Ari Tulang and Regi Lawalata.
The 70 trees planted on the bank of the Western Flood Bypass were the contributions from the State Minister for the Environment and Lampung provincial Governor Sjahroedin ZP.
"Meanwhile, the location where the trees were planted is contributed by the Jakarta garden affairs office," she said.
Titik Puspa was born in South Kalimantan on November 1, 1937, and married (late) Mus Mualim with two daughters, Petty and Ella.
She has composed a number of popular songs like Kisah Hidup (the story of life, 1963), Mama (1964), Minah Gadis Dusun (Minah, an hamlet girl, 1965), Gang Kelinci, Adinda, Cinta and Bing (1973).
She also starred a number of films including Minah Gadis Dusun (1965), Di Balik Cahaya Gemerlapan (1976), Inem Pelayan Seksi (1976), Karminem (1977), Rojali dan Juleha (1980) and Gadis (1981).
