Singapore`s only sculpture competition attracted over a total of 162 entries for this year

Singapore - Singapore‘s only sculpture competition attracted over a total of 162 entries for this year.

Of these, more than 30 entries were shot-listed as winning pieces.

They are all up for display at the Singapore Art Museum from September 20 till September 26.

The Third City Developments Limited (CDL) Singapore Sculpture Award Exhibition was launched by Minister of State for National Development, Ms Grace Fu.

The exhibition includes works from both established sculptors as well as budding talents, who are as young as 12 years old.

See Wen Han, 13, from Victoria School was the top winner in the student category, winning $5,000 cash.

The winner of the open category was Tan Wee Lit, a 29-year-old artist at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Mr Tan walks away with $10,000.

He may also have his work installed at East Coast Park near the upcoming Extreme Skate Park, which will be completed by mid-2008.
