Senoi statues to greet visitors

Kuala Lumpur - Soon, visitors to the Orang Asli museum in Gombak, will be greeted by tall Senoi statues.

Used for worship by the ethnic group in the past, the statues will be brought in as part of the Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry`s efforts to bring in more visitors.

At a cost of RM4 million, the museum will be extended to house more artefacts, create larger exhibition spaces besides conducting more research and promotional programmes on Malaysia`s aboriginal communities.

Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim hoped with the new additions, the museum would be a one-stop centre for visitors seeking information on the peninsula`s early inhabitants.
