Singapore and Malaysia Tourism Ministers Meet For Bilateral Discussion

Bangkok - Singapore and Malaysian Tourism Ministers exchanged ideas on a number of complementary tourism projects which can be discussed further and carried out under the ambit of the Malaysia-Singapore Tourism Council (MSTC).

The bilateral discussion between Minister of State for Trade and Industry for Singapore, Mr S Iswaran, and Malaysia`s Minister of Tourism for Malaysia, YBM Datuk Seri Tengku Adnand Tengku Mansor, took place while the Ministers were in Bangkok, Thailand, for the 11th Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers and advanced the potential for greater tourism collaboration with Singapore`s closest neighbour.

The MSTC was formed in 1982 and has since conducted several marketing activities to market Singapore and Malaysia jointly. Most recently in August and September 2006, the MSTC undertook a promotion encouraging youths from Singapore and Malaysia to visit each other`s countries when special offers and discounts were accorded to youths visiting from Singapore and Malaysia.
