S`pore students here for coop programme

Brunei Darussalam - A cooperative programme between the Singapore Republic Polytechnic and the Ministry of Education`s Sports School is being held here until March 28.

Two officers and 14 students from the Singapore Republic Polytechnic arrived in Brunei March 19 and are involved in the field of food, other activities and sports psychology.

Through this cooperative programme, it is hoped understanding and cooperation between the two educational institutes will be raised especially in the field of sports.

Yesterday, the group paid a visit to Kampong Wasan Panchor Murai along with members of the Sports School led by its Acting Principal, Zaman Hj Gapar, for padi planting and harvesting.

The visitors were welcomed by the Penghulu of Mukim Pengkalan Batu, Hj Tahir Hj Tarip and his spouse, who work on the land.

They saw the process of padi growing in a traditional and modern way.

To get a close up of Brunei culture and heritage, they are also visiting the Fishing Village, the Royal Regalia, various museums and the Arts and Handicraft and cloth weaving centres.
