Talk on Malay literature

Berakas, Brunei Darussalam - A talk on the current development of Malay literature in this country with reference to its counterparts in the region or nusantara will be held at Patih Berbai Room, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), Berakas on March 26 at 2 pm.

Organised by the DBP in collaboration with local literary writers, the talk will be delivered by Prof Dr Hj Sahlan Md Saman, a professor at the Malay Literature Department, Faculty of Arts and Social Science, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

According to Suip Hj Wahab, a DBP Language Officer, the activity is part of a project of Pantaran Sastera or Literature Bridge in the effort by DBP to discuss latest literature product development in this country in relation with its counterparts in the Malay speaking region.

Literature writers, lecturers, teachers and students are invited to attend the event that will be chaired by K Manis or Cikgu Hj Moksin bin Kadir, winner of the SEAWrite Award 2007.

Cikgu Moksin said the event is the first of a series of talks or lectures which will be organised by DBP in collaboration with literary writers this year.

"It is part of our effort to glorify literature activities in this country," he said.
