UBD, UKM Students In Internalisation Programme In Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 26 students, accompanied by eight lecturers, from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) arrived in Brunei yesterday to take part in an Internationalisation Programme to be conducted with students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).

The programme‘s highlight was an International Dialogue between UKM and UBD, held at UBD‘s Senate Room, Chancellor Hall today.

The topic was "The Role of University Students in Facing Challenges of Global Dakwah/The Role of University Students in Facing Dakwah in the Globalisation Era." A briefing about the history of UBD and IPISHOAS was also held.

Moderators of the said dialogue were Ustaz Hj Md Firdaus bin OKK Hj Noordin from UBD, and Ustaz Anuar bin Puteh from UKM. Two representatives from both universities took part in the dialogue.

Present during the dialogue was Dr Saiful Azmi bin Hj Husain, Dean of Student Affairs UBD, Ustazah Zaliha bte Hj Abu Salim, Deputy Dean of IPISHOAS, UBD, Dr Fariza bte Md Sham, Head of Department, Dakwah and Leadership Studies, Faculty of Islamic Studies, UKM and Dyg Maikassum bte Tinggal, Deputy Registrar and Secretariat, UBD.

The programme is a product of UKM‘s Dakwah and Leadership Studies work paper, with the following‘ objectives: to hold intellectual dialogues of international level in UBD; to expose UKM to an international level; to bolster the students with the potential to succeed; and to strengthen ties between UKM and UBD students.

The students will be visiting a number of historical locations such as the Brunei Museum, Brunei Technology Museum, and Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque as well as the UBD campus and the Islamic Dakwah Centre tomorrow, and will depart for Malaysia on Saturday, Dec 29. 2007.
