Bandar Seri Begawan - Md Nur Bazli bin Abd Mustafa and Nur Azilla bte Hj Abdullah won the male Azan Subuh and female recital of the Quran verses competition for primary schools in Brunei II area yesterday at the Sekolah Rendah Dato Mohd Yassin Brunei.
The guest of honour, Awg Hj Kamis bin Hj Talip, presented the prizes.
The event began with a recital of the Surah al-Fatihah followed by remarks from the principal of Sekolah Rendah Dato Mohd Yassin Brunei and the guest of honour.
Md Nur Bazli from SR SUAS Muara scored 90 per cent and edged out 13 others in the male Azan Subuh. Second was Malik Faisal bin Hj Osman from SR Datu Gandi with 88 per cent. Third was Md Khalid Syafie bin Mohd Don from SR SAB Sungai Besar with 84 per cent.
In the female competition for reciting verses of the Quran, Nur Azilla binti Hj Abdullah from SR ATL Muara came first with 92 per cent. Second was Siti Adawiyah binti Aminuddin from SR Delima Satu with 89 per cent. Third was Nurul Amal Afiqah binti Shahminan from SR Kapok Muara with 86 per cent.
