Closer Brunei-M`sia ties

Kuala Lumpur - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia‘s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi yesterday discussed bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest and renewed the closer and excellent relations that exist between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, and amongst the leaders and people of the two countries.

His Majesty received in audience the Malaysian premier at the place where His Majesty is residing in Kuala Lumpur. His Majesty arrived in Malaysia Monday afternoon for a two-day working visit.

Early yesterday morning His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam went for a horse riding exercise with His Majesty Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah.

The horse-riding exercise was immediately followed by a breakfast session.

Both activities were held at the Putrajaya Equestrian Park, Kuala Lumpur.

In the evening, His Majesty was entertained to a banquet hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak.

Present during the banquet were His Majesty Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Her Majesty Permaisuri Agong, as well as Cabinet Ministers and dignitaries from Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam. The banquet was held in one of the leading hotels in Kuala Lumpur.

Today, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will visit the Iskandar Military Camp in Mersing, Johore.

On arrival at the Subang Airport, Kuala Lumpur, Monday, His Majesty was greeted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak; the Minister of Energy, Air and Communications who is also the Minister-in-attendance, Datuk Shaziman bin Abu Mansur; the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri; and the Malaysian High Commissioner in Brunei Darussalam, Datuk Ku Jaafar bin Ku Shaari, as well as senior military and civilian officers of the Malaysian Ministry of Defence.

Also present at the Subang Airport to receive and greet His Majesty yesterday were Brunei Darussalam‘s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Amin bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Dewa Dato Paduka Awang Hj Abdul Rahim as well as officers and staff of the High Commission.
