Kuala Lumpur - A CHARITY concert to raise funds for the earthquake victims in Sichuan, China, will be held at Istana Budaya (IB) this weekend.

Entitled Maharaja – The Emperor, the show will feature more than 100 musicians from Malaysia, China and Singapore.

They will present a collection of classical Malay and Chinese numbers during the two-hour show.

It is jointly organised by the Malaysian Chinese Culture Society and CNI Foundation.

“The concert will feature songs from the imperial theme from both the Chinese and Malay history,” said Malaysian Chinese Culture Society deputy Chong Ah Kow.

“A classical Malay song entitled Kris Raja will also be featured with Mohd Yazid Zakaria as the music director,” he added.

Chong added that the proceeds collected from ticket sales and public donation on the first day (tomorrow) would be donated to the earthquake victims in China.

“We were expecting to raise about RM100,000 but so far we have collected more than RM250,000,” he said.
Tickets are priced at RM25, RM35, RM55, RM105 and RM205. They are available at Ticket hotline box office in Istana Budaya (03-4026 5558), Professional Cultural Centre Sdn Bhd (03-9285 5807) or can be booked at www.ticket2u.biz. By SALINA KHALID
