Singapore, Malaysia hold joint infantry exercise in Pahang

Singapore - A 10-day joint infantry exercise between Singapore and Malaysia ended on Tuesday at Felda Keratong in Pahang.

The annual exercise, code-named "Ex Semangat Bersatu 08", is the 14th in the series of bilateral exercises and was conducted from May 4-13.

This year`s exercise involved soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment (3 SIR) and the 10th Royal Malay Regiment.

The Ministry of Defence said the exercise, which began in 1989, underscores the long-standing defence ties between both countries.

The closing ceremony on Tuesday morning was jointly officiated by the Singapore Armed Forces` Chief of Army, Major-General Neo Kian Hong, and his Malaysian counterpart, General Muhammad Ismail Jamaluddin.
