`Study in Brunei` exhibition May 22-24

Bandar Seri Begawan - A "Study in Brunei" exhibition, highlighting various private institutions here, will be held from May 22 to 24 at The Mall, Gadong, said S Sivarajah, from the Laksmana College of Business, in his capacity as the chairman of the event, in a press conference held at The Rizqun International Hotel yesterday.

The guest of honour at the exhibition will be the Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Education, Dyg Hjh Apsah Hj Abdul Majid.

The event will be hosted by Laksmana College of Business in cooperation with the Non-Government School Department of the Ministry of Education and will be participated by BQL, Kemuda, IGS, BICPA and Laksmana College of Business.

According to Sivarajah, the education exhibition will be the first of its kind to be held in Brunei to create further awareness among the public as well as students who have just completed their `O`- and `A`- level exams.

The exhibition will provide alternatives for those pursuing higher education locally. It also aims to minimise the outflow of students abroad by encouraging them to spend the first couple of years in Brunei, as this will benefit the parents by reducing their financial burden, not to mention helping the local economy by reducing the outflow of education investment.

The exhibition hoped to promote Brunei as an educational hub for international students as well as local private institutions.

There will also be participating banks, such as BIBD, which will be promoting different student/education loans offered locally and abroad. The exhibition will also showcase part-time courses for working adults.

Among the sponsors for the exhibition will be Abdul Razak Holdings, BIBD and Syarikat Halim.
