Surakarta to Hold 35 Cultural Events in 2010

Surakarta - The tourism authority of Surakarta City will hold 35 cultural events in 2010. Two of them will be international events.

“Favorite tourism destinations in Surakarta are still limited,” said Surakarta's Head of Tourism and Culture Authority, Purnomo Subagyo.

Tourists both from Indonesia and abroad visit Kasunanan and Mangkunegaran Palaces, Batik Village, Klewer Market, and Triwindu, center for antique goods.

By having these events, Surakarta expects to attract more tourists. “We hope to be a tourism magnet,” he said.

The number of cultural events next year will be double this year. The tourism authority has purposed budget of Rp4.5 billion for 2010.
