Dr Ismail Ibrahim Wins Islamic Media Award

Putrajaya- Malaysia`s former ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Datuk Dr Ismail Ibrahim was named as the recipient of this year`s National Prime Islamic Media Award Thursday night.

Dr Ismail,71, who was awarded the Tokoh Maal Hijrah Award in 2002, previously had also been the head of the Abdullah Fahim chair at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and chairman of the National Fatwa Council.

The award was presented by Minister in the Prime Minister`s Department Datuk Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at a special dinner here.

Berita Harian was named the best newspaper in the Print Category while Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) won for best Islamic-based TV programmes.

The Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia won the best Islamic website category.

Zahid in his speech urged Islamic media organisations to intensify their efforts to bring Islamic media to greater heights.
