Number of middle east tourist arrivals increase in Bali

Denpasar, Bali Province - The number of Middle Eastern tourist arrivals in Bali increased from 200 per month in early 2009, to 500 per month lately, an official said.

Bali recorded a total of 3,303 tourist arrivals from 13 Middle Eastern countries during January-September 2009, orang selama Januari-September 2009, according to data of the Bali tourism office on Thursday.

Of the total, 1,269 came from Saudi Arabia, 808 from Egypt, 341 from Kuwait, and the rest among other things from Oman, Lebanon, and Iraq.
Bali has exported handicrafts worth US$1.6 million to the Middle East region this year.

Meanwhile, Australian tourists rank first on the list of 10 countries contributing the most to Bali`s tourist dollar earnings.

The number of Australian tourist arrivals in Bali was 314,281 during January-September 2009, up 38.24 percent from 227,349 in the same period last year, Ida Komang Wisnu, head of the Bali provincial Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), said recently.

Australia accounted for about 17.89 percent of the total number of foreign tourists visiting Bali (1,756,491) during the January-September period in 2009, he said.

The number of foreign tourist arrivals in Bali went up 13.60 percent from 1,546,266 in the same period of last year.

The hotel occupancy rate in Bali during that period was 63.02 percent.
