Misunderstand solved by Culture Dialogue between Indonesia and Malaysia

Jakarta - Misunderstand between Indonesia and Malaysia solved by Culture Dialogue. The conclusion was the results of Culture Dialogue between Indonesia and Malaysia in Jakarta, Wednesday (5th March)

Dr. Mukhlis PaEni, also as Head of Historian Society Association (Masyarakat Sejarah Indonesia) briefed that bilateral cooperation in economic advancing but in the other side cooperation on culture was left behind. The Misunderstanding between Indonesia-Malaysia, because the lack of knowledge on culture from both country he said.

Prof. Madya Datuk Zainal Abidin Borhan from Malaysia said that the misunderstanding between both country was because the lack of knowledge especially on Malay language as mother tounge of Indonesian and Malaysian people.

As an example, the use of "indon" for calling Indonesian people in Malaysia was only an acronym as the same as Bangli for Bangladesh people or Thailand people with Tei. But if the use of "Indon" interpreted as debasing of Indonesian people, the government of Malaysia required to ask the people of Malysia not to use it again.

According to Mukhlis PaEni, the relationship between Indonesia-Malaysia noted since 14th century when the movement of small society from Indonesia to Malaysia and also brought their culture.

The meeting was attended by expertises on culture and history from both countries such as Prof.Dr. Taufik Abdullah submitting the hand out entitled Memori Kolektif Dalam Kesadaran Sejarah Berbangsa Serumpun (The Collective Memory of Historical Awareness between Indonesia and Malaysia), Prof. Datuk Dr. Abdul Latif Bakar, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato, Dr. Ismail Hussein, DatoHaji. Aziz Derawan, and also Prof.Datuk Dr. Zainal Kling.
