Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei - The Religious Committee of Brunei High Commission in London held a Dikir Competition in conjunction with the Prophet Muhammad`s birthday. Four groups of Bruneian students from various universities made it to the final, which was held on the eve of 12 Rabiulawal at Brunei Hall Surau, London. The champion of the competition was a group of six girl students from London who named themselves `Nisatus Syaakirah`.
Prizes and participation certificates were given away by the guest of honour, Awang Sulia bin Haji Nayan, the Deputy High Commissioner and the Chairman of the Religious Committee, Brunei High Commission in London.
The Dikir Competition was the main event after 12 consecutive nights of Majlis Berdikir at Brunei Hall Surau attended by officers from Brunei High Commission, Brunei Students Unit, Defence Unit, Brunei Investment Agency and students.
Awang Mohd Dini Zuhairi bin Pehin Haji Hasrin and Dayang Reyhanah binti Haji Md Yakob was selected as `Penuntut Contoh` for this year. Selections of Penuntut Contoh` were based on their involvements and contributions in religious and welfare activities for the whole year. Prizes and appreciation certificates were presented by Cikgu Abdullah bin Haji Ahad, Director of Studies, Brunei Students Unit (Wawa).
