Malaysia - The first Putrajaya Arts Festival will end its run tomorrow with manga-related events.
Geared to help place Putrajaya in the limelight as a centre of creativity and cultural pursuits in the nation, the arts fest initiated by master developer Putrajaya Holdings was launched in July last year.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique graced the launch.
The calendar of events included the staging of Menopause The Musical and Comedy Court, while the other events were the Putrajaya Photography Contest and the Top of the Bands Competition
For the closing, the finals of the Original Manga Competition and a manga workshop will be held at the Multi Purpose Hall of Menara PjH in Precinct 2.
Putrajaya Holdings chief executive officer Azlan Abdul Karim said the manga competition was designed to provide a platform for young talents to hone their skills in creative thinking as well as Manga animation.
“It has been exciting to see the diversity of creative talents amongst Malaysians from theatre to art and music through the festival,” he observed.
The competition, open to all Malaysians aged 12 and above, offered cash prizes for the various categories. Winners also stand to receive a one-year subscription of comics from the Komik Factory.
Entries were accepted in English or Bahasa Malaysia and had to be original Entries were judged on originality, storytelling, layout and design, character design, the use of onomatopoeia, artistic ability and style.
The manga workshop will feature renowned manga talents from the region and offer an exciting showcase of prominent manga artwork. Fee for the workshop is RM20.
Hot on the heels of the manga events will be the Audio Visual Arts Performance and Workshop to be held in late March.
