Education fair boasts 250 booths

Kuala Lumpur - More than 250 booths at the Facon Education Fair next month have been taken; 80 per cent by local universities and colleges, and the rest from overseas.

Facon Exhibitions Sdn Bhd executive director Wong Yoke Lin said yesterday that they were targeting more than 50,000 visitors when the fair kicks off at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on March 15 and 16.

One of the participants, University College Sedaya International‘s marketing manager Rachel Teh said they were giving students the best university experience, besides rewarding them with scholarships.

This was to encourage them to excel in academic and extra-curricular fields.

University of Nottingham Administrative Support Services director of the Malaysia campus, Paul Boardman said being ranked in the UK‘s Top 10 meant innovative and quality teaching.

"The latest school to be set up on the Malaysia campus is the School of Biosciences which offers foundation in biosciences, bachelor‘s in science (hons) in plant biotechnology and much more.

"Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia school leavers are welcome to join the foundation programmes in business and management, computer science and engineering."

KDU College marketing manager Lai Wing Fatt said the college offered a wholesome and well-rounded education experience.

"It offers a wide range of degree programmes with top international universities from the UK, Australia and Switzerland," said Lai.

The fair starts at noon and ends at 6pm.

Besides Kuala Lumpur, it will be held at the Crowne Plaza Riverside Hotel in Kuching on March 16, and the Tanahmas Hotel, Sibu, on March 17; Holiday Villa Hotel, Alor Star, on March 18; Traders Hotel, Penang, and Grand Palace Hotel, Miri, on March 19; Syuen Hotel, Ipoh, on March 20; Equatorial Hotel, Malacca, and Sandakan Hotel on March 21; Promenade Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, on March 22.

It will end at the Hyatt Regency, Johor Baru, and Heritage Hotel, Tawau, on March 23.
