Unity To Reign During HM`s Birthday Celebration

Bandar Seri Begawan- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtahdee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister`s Office pointed out that the participation and involvement of youths, schools and higher educational institutions as well as the private sector and non-government organisations in celebrating His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam`s upcoming birthday celebration portray "the understanding, harmony, solidarity, cooperation and support amongst the citizens and residents of the country.

His Royal Highness in a sabda at the third meeting of the National Organising Committee for His Majesty 61st birthday celebration yesterday said that he acknowledged the commitment displayed by the committee members at the national and district levels, the private sector as well as all the citizens and residents of the country through their sheer enthusiasm and close cooperation.

"I believe that all the celebrations that have been planned at the national and district levels will b e conducted in a successful and orderly manner." said the Crown Prince who is also the Royal Patron of the committee.

"The festive mood celebrated by the entire community will also be shared by tourists coming to the country to join us in witnessing the unique culture of our country, particularly in terms of the closeness and devotion between the King and his subjects." HRH added that the unity and cooperation were proof of the nation`s capabilities in sustaining its Bruneian values - the Malay Islamic Monarchy.

His Royal Highness, in the sabda also acknowledged the completion of the monument, Mercu Dirgahayu 60 in conjunction with His Majesty`s 60th birthday celebration as a gift signifying the perpetual love of the citizens and residents.

"I also warmly welcome the upcoming Nationwide Gathering of the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils, which will, amongst other activities, include the invitation of prominent foreign figures and experts to deliver lectures," he said, adding that besides enhancing the knowledge and sharing of experiences it is also seen as an added value to the "revitalisation and progress" of the Mukims and Villages Consultative Councils.

In addition, gathering was also organised to "contribute to the peace, development, welfare, prosperity and further strengthen the longstanding solidarity of the communities in the country towards excellence, progress and competitiveness". Yesterday`s meeting started with a recital of the Surah Alfatihah, followed by welcoming remarks by Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Md Yusof, who chairs the committee.

Topics on the agenda included the reviews and finalisation of the minutes taken from the second general meeting. It also discussed was latest reports from all four districts regarding the preparations and suggestions on the format of performances and programmes for the upcoming celebrations. The latest dates and venues for the Majlis Ilmu, Nationwide Gathering of the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils and Malam Serurnpun was also set.
