Singapore - The Monetary Authority of Singapore on Thursday launched the "Heritage Orchids of Singapore Coin Set".
This is only the second set of coins issued, as a tribute to the national flower.
The first set of 8,000 released last year, were all sold out.
This beauty has a fragrance likened to the smell of chocolates, and according to experts is pretty enough to be etched on a coin.
The coin set features two orchids - the first is "Vanda Mimi Palmer", and the other - "Dendrobium Singa Mas" which means `Golden Lion`.
This bright yellow orchid is one of the most beautiful hybrids created by the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
These coins, which will be issued in a premium set, include ez-link cards featuring the orchid species.
They will be available from 25 June and will be sold by Singapore Mint.
And in conjunction with the launch of the coin set, an Orchid Painting Competition was also held at the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
Splashes of bright colours attracted the judges to the skilled paintings of orchids.
A total of six winners walked away with gift hampers worth between S$500 and S$2,000 each.
