Kuala Belait - The Belait Malays Cultural Group conducted a cultural exchange visit to Pakatan Sang Jati Dusun in Kampong Bukit Udal, Tutong recently.
The leader of the cultural group, Dayang Nordiana binte Hj Md Deru, said the exchange visit featured traditional dances that brought out the traditions and customs of the Belait group.
The visit was also aimed at introducing and disseminating the Brunei Malay culture as well as to form cultural values based on MIB concepts.
During the visit, the Belait group presented a "Beras Rujud" to Pakatan Sang Jati Dusun as a traditional symbol from the group used in the olden days at wedding ceremonies.
Dayang Nordiana hoped that such traditions will be practised and do not become extinct as time progresses.
The cultural exchange visit also aimed at sharing widespread information on the culture of Brunei Malays with the young people so they could pass down the customs and traditions to the next generation.
Dayang Nordiana also felt proud to be able to revive the customs and traditions of the Belait group to teach young children to love their cultural heritage so it would be part of their daily lives.
