Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia on Saturday organised a cultural performance from North Aceh, Indonesia at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports building.
Pengiran Indera Mahkota Pengiran Anak (Dr) Kemaluddin Al-Haj ibni Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Hj Mohd Yassin, speaker of the Legislative Council of Brunei Darussalam, was present as the guest of honour.
Also in attendance was the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Brunei Herijanto Soeprapto, Commander of the RBAF, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Halbi Hj Md Yussof and other senior government officials, as well as foreign diplomats, staff of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Indonesian community in Brunei.
The event commenced with a doa recital, followed by a speech by Herijanto Soeprapto.
In the ambassador`s speech, he expressed his appreciation to His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam for his State Visit to Indonesia in April, which concluded with a signing of an MoU designed to strengthen the cultural cooperation between the two countries.
He also mentioned that Brunei is one of Indonesia`s true friend. The Sultanate has helped Indonesia in many ways such as providing aid and humanitarian assistance to Aceh after the unfortunate event of tsunami that struck Aceh on December 26, 2004, not only in the emergency response but also actively engaged in the reconstruction period where 70 units of houses, schools, orphanage, mosque and health centre have been constructed for the people of Aceh.
During the event, guests were entertained by various Aceh cultural dance, musical, singing and drama performances.
