DBP competitions to mark Royal B`day

Brunei Darussalam - The Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) will be holding its third annual activities in conjunction with the royal birthday of 2008 on the theme Negara Zikir (A religious verses chanting nation).

This was revealed in a press conference attended by the chairman and director of the Language and Literature Bureau, Dr Mataim bin Bakar, Deputy Director Dyg Aminah Bte Momin, staff and the organising committee members.

It is planning four competitions, and one stage presentation to be held at the ICC.

There will be tausyeh recitals by invited schools, a Islamic poetry recital, pantun (limericks), menambang syair (respondent limericks recitals) and story telling by winners of its story telling competition.

The 9am to 6pm stages show will be from July 24 until Aug 6, 2008.

Entry forms, details and information are available from all Language and Literature Bureau centre, branches and departments.

The article writing competition closing date is June 30, 2008 before 4.30 pm. The first prize is $2,500.00; second prize,$1,500.00, and third,$1,000. There are three consolation prizes of $500 each.

The children story writing event closes at 4.30pm on July 10, 2008. First prize is $2,000. Second prize is $1,200 and third prize is $1,000. Three consolation prizes of $500 each wil be given. The short story writing (cerpin) completion closes on July 7, 2008. First prize is $2,000, second prizes is $1,200, and third prizes is $1,000. There are three consolation prizes at $500 each.

The Khat writing competition closes on July 14, 2008. Entry forms should be handed in before 3pm.
