Minister Yeo says S’pore—Thai relations better than ever

Singapore - Relations between Thailand and Singapore are back on track and set to be better than ever, said Singapore’s Foreign Affairs Minister, George Yeo.

Speaking at the 7th Thai Festival at the Thai Embassy on Thursday, Mr Yeo said a civil service exchange programme that was cancelled last year after relations were strained has been restored.

He added that he is looking forward to launching the programme with his Thai counterpart, Mr Noppadon Pattama, at the end of this year.

Mr Yeo also commented on the recent meeting of the Singapore—Malaysia technical committee on the issue of Pedra Branca. He said no timetable was set and he hopes things will move forward as quickly as possible.

"It was a good meeting, with concrete outcomes (such as a plan to do) a joint survey of the waters before we proceed to do the delimitation. It was businesslike and with a good spirit," he said.
