Bandar Seri Begawan - A thanksgiving ceremony of "Ristaan Kejayaan Gemilang" for participants of Brunei who competed at the Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran International Level in Kuala Lumpur was held recently at the Imperial Jade Riverview Hotel in Gadong. The event was organised by the Islamic Quran Readers Association (IQRA).
Present at the ceremony were the former Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran Champion International Level in 1977, Awang Hj Mashud bin Hj Awang Damit. Also in attendance were Dato Paduka Awang Hj Mohd Yusof bin Bakar and Mudim Hj Metassim bin Hj Metusin, former Qari participants at the Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran in Kuala Lumpur.
Also present at the ceremony were the former Qariah of Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran in Kuala Lumpur namely Dayang Hjh Masni binte Hj Abdul Manaf, Dayang Hjh Jamilah binti Hj Abdul Manaf, Dayang Hjh Aminah binte Hj Abdul Manaf, Dayang Hjh Rokiah binte Hj Ibrahim, and Dayang Hjh Siti Ara binti Hj Idris.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah al-Fatihah and ended with a thanksgiving prayer. A video presentation of the Musabawah Tilawatil Quran International Level held in Kuala Lumpur back in 1977 was also shown at the event.
The objective of the event was to gather and foster ties between former Qari and Qariah with the new Qari and Qariah of Brunei Darussalam.
