Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 36 students from the Royal Brunei Police Force Religious School were celebrated in a Khatam al-Quran ceremony at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium, Gadong Police Headquarters, yesterday.
The ceremony, held annually by the school, was to mark the completion of the recitation of 30 juzuk or chapters of the al-Quran by sixth year students and a few selected students from the fifth year.
Present was the Director of Operations of the Royal Brunei Police Force, Pehin Orang Pendikar Alam AG SAC Awg Hj Hasrin Hj Sabtu, as the honoured guest.
The recitation of several Quranic verses or Surahs by participants was followed by a takhtim recital by the school‘s fourth and fifth year students.
The sprinkling of bunga rampai on the participants was led by the guest of honour and was later joined by the parents, accompanied by a dikir recital.
The honoured guest also presented certificates to the participants and last year‘s primary six students.
Similar ceremony for 30 students from the Yayasan Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah Religious School was also held yesterday.
Present as the honoured guest was a member of the Yayasan Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah School‘s Board of Directors, Hj Awang Ishak Hj Abu.
The participants were mainly comprise of Primary Six students , with a few from other levels.
The 30 boys and girls read verses from the holy al-Quran beginning from Surah Ad-Duha to Surah Al-Massad while a group of the school‘s female teachers read the takhtim at the closing of the students recitation. doa khatam was read by one of the participants, before teachers of the school presented a dikir.
As usual the guest of honour led the sprinkling of the bunga rampai onto the participants and presented certificates to them.
