Singapore - Celebrations for Hari Raya Aidilfitri have begun.
Geylang Serai was awash with a vivid colour on Saturday evening to mark the occasion.
A traditional Malay dance welcomed guest-of-honour, Education Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
He joined hundreds who had gathered for an evening of performances and spectacular light displays.
But it won‘t just be the rainbow colours that will impress the crowds.
Visitors can also expect traditional street bazaars at this year‘s festival, which observes the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, culminating in Hari Raya celebrations on October 13.
From Sunday, the Kampong Glam area will also join in the festivities. These will continue until October 21.
