SEAMEO Delegates Learn More About Brunei History Culture

Bandar Seri Begawan - Thirteen delegates from the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) visited the Royal Regalia in the capital yesterday.

The visit was aimed at providing the participants with more insights into local history and culture as the Royal Regalia encompasses various characteristics of the philosophy of Malay Islamic Monarchy.

The visitors are from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam who are currently in the Sultanate to attend a training programme at the SEAMEO VOCTECH Regional Centre from July 23 to August 4.

The training themed "Development of a Dualised Training System (DTS) in Vocational and Technical Education and Training (VTET)" is aimed at enhancing the working knowledge and skills of the participants in designing a dual curriculum, and implementing doable and sustainable DT programmes for implementation in their respective institutions.

DTS in education is an instructional delivery that combines theoretical knowledge and practical skills following a dualised curriculum and training plan which is being implemented collaboratively by an accredited learning institution and industry/business establishment.

One of the delegates from Malaysia, Muhamad Rumzi Mamat, Senior Assistant Director, Curriculum Development Division, Department of Polytechnics and Community College, Ministry of Higher Education in Malaysia said that apart from the Royal Regalia Building, they also visited few vocational schools in the Sultanate such as Sultan Bolkiah Vocational School and Nakhoda Ragam Vocational School to study and make comparisons on the education system in Brunei and their home country.
