Singapore - Pay-TV operator StarHub in Singapore is to carry a new channel catering to the country‘s Malaysian audience.

The cable company is offering what it says will be Singapore‘s first and only dedicated Malay entertainment channel, Sensasi (Sensation), which goes live on August 6.

Tham Loke Kheng, StarHub‘s senior VP for content and marketing, said there is a strong desire among Singapore‘s Malay community for more Malay entertainment. ‘Audiences can expect compelling, vibrant content, including a plethora of first-run and highly rated programmes from around the region,‘ she said.

‘We anticipate the channel will not only win fans from among our local Malay viewers but also strike a chord with the significant number of Malaysians and Indonesians residing in Singapore.‘

Content for the new channel will be packaged by StarHub‘s development partner, Content Network Asia, which will also be closely involved in the development of the channel.

Sensasi will carry 18 hours of programming daily, including at least six hours of first-run shows.

Between 20.00 and 23.00 the schedule will feature themed block programming dedicated to specific genres. This includes family-oriented programmes on Mondays, variety shows on Tuesdays, period drama and action flicks on Wednesdays, horror-themed shows on Thursdays, romantic drama and comedy on Fridays and blockbuster movies over the weekend.
