Bandar Seri Begawan - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam last night underscored the importance of al-Quran and the effort to reap the benefits of its magnificence.
His Majesty delivered a titah during the Nuzul AlQuran or the commemoration of the revelation of the Quran at the International Convention Centre last night.
His Majesty said the commemoration of the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was a blessing from Allah the Almighty.
Al-Quran is a heritage that is protected and its safety guaranteed by Allah. Even though it has remained for over a thousand years since the holy book came down (from heaven), its legacy continues and can never be altered.
His Majesty pointed to a surah in the holy book, which says about the Quran being protected.
The reason why the Quran is protected, said His Majesty, is to provide opportunities for mankind to receive benefits from it.
"Isn`t al-Quran the light that shines on everything and all forms of life? Without al-Quran, we will not have found the light," His Majesty said.
"It is obvious that al-Quran is a blessing and a gift from Allah to us. It is proof of how much Allah loves His creation by providing the direction that is most exalted," said the monarch.
The Sultan also expressed his pleasure on the religious events, in particular the tedarus, that have been organised by the relevant agencies throughout the holy month of Ramadhan. The commendable trend only reflects on the good leadership.
His Majesty further noted that our closeness with the holy book is no longer a choice but a priority and a must.
"By reading the Quran one can create calmness, which in turn creates happiness," explained His Majesty.
The ruler said, al-Quran is an eternal guide and a shield against evil and temptations. At the same time reading it also acts to calm one`s mind.
With this in mind, His Majesty reminded everyone to be closer to the holy book, to read it and listen others reading it as it will bring reward from Allah the Almighty.
Filling the mind and hearts with the teachings of alquran can prevent us from deviating from our beliefs or be led astray, the monarch added.
His Majesty also pointed out a sabda by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in which the prophet said, "I leave you with two matters, you will never go astray (from Allah`s path) if you hold strongly onto two, al-Quran and As-Sunnah."
It is a clear sign that the "right path" is only through the Quran and As-Sunnah, while the rest will not have any guarantees.
"No other book can ever compete with al-Quran and its As-Sunnah," His Majesty said.
In conclusion, His Majesty said the sheer magnificence of the Quran will always show us the light and we must continue to take all the good things from it. By Amin Hosni
