Colourful beauties of ASEAN country showcased in Hanoi

Nhan Dan Online - Traditional arts and crafts and photos featuring the beauties of Southeast Asian nations have been on display from yesterday in Hanoi to mark the 40th anniversary of the Association of Southest Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The exhibition, entitled `The Colours of ASEAN` showcases 100 photos of natural landscapes and famous architecture such as Keklok si Temple, Bang Penang of Malaysia, ThapLuang in Vientient, Laos, Mandalay Palace, a cultural heritage of Myanmar, Kampong Ayer Floating Village of Brunei, Prambanan Temple of Indonesia and Puento Princesa Subteranean National Park of the Philippines.

The exhibition also introduces nearly 100 stamps created by Vietnamese children as part of the ASEAN Children`s Stamp Contest focusing on two themes, tourism and the national flags of ASEAN country.

Apart from images of the land and people, the exhibition also displays traditional ASEAN arts and crafts and costumes Noteworthy are the bamboo and ratten products of Brunei, wood masks of Indonesia, brocade of Laos, batik paintings of Malaysia, traditional musical instruments of Myanmar, and jewellary of the Philippines.

The host Vietnam shows not only photos featuring cultural identity, but also products by artisans to be sent to the ASEAN traditional arts and crafts scheduled to be held in December, Bangkok, Thailand.

The Colours of ASEAN, part of a series of events celebrating 40 years of ASEAN, runs until August 8 at 29 Hang bai street.
