Bandar Seri Begawan - A Cultural delegation from Brunei Darussalam recently attended the Sabah Gambus Festival 2007 in Papar to lend their support to the effort of the Association of Brunei Community in Sabah (PMBS) to popularise Brunei traditional music.
Led by Pg Shahminan Pg Hj Ismail, the Chairman of the Affiliation of Drama, Television Entertainment and Creative Artists (GAPHAR), the delegation was invited to attend the event by the president of PMBS Datuk Haji Yusoff bin Datuk Panglima Hj Mohd Kassim, the permanent secretary at the Sabah Ministry of Finance.
The event - held at the Papar New Community Hall - was declared open by Datuk Hj Abdul Rahim Ismail, the Sabah Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry in his capacity as the patron of PMBS, and as a personal representative of the Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji MusaAman.
Organised by the PMBS in collaboration with the Sabah Tourism Board, gulingtangan and pencak silat competitions involving representatives from nearly 20 branches of PMBS in Papar, Bongawan, Sipitang, Membakut, Beaufort, Kota Kinabalu and the Sandakan sub-community were also held.
