Singapore - The 10 major faiths in Singapore joined hands on Sunday to pray for world peace in a blessing ceremony to celebrate the nation‘s 42nd birthday.
The event is also an affirmation of the people‘s commitment towards religious harmony as representatives from major religious groups gathered at the Singapore Buddhist Federation to celebrate diversity.
At the ceremony, Minister of State for National Development Grace Fu, commended religious leaders for their support for frequent interaction.
Mutual tolerance, respect and understanding are key in strengthening ties and promoting religious harmony.
Ms Fu added that while Singapore is free from violence resulting from religious and racial conflict, the people must continue to grow their common space and work towards greater cohesion.
And some 5,000 Singaporeans of all ages did just that at an event to celebrate the Prophet Muhammad‘s Birthday.
The organisers treated the elderly and the less fortunate to lunch, and many families also received goodie bags and rice.
