Singapore - 320 ASEAN and Japanese youths have gathered in Singapore to celebrate friendship and ASEAN`s 40th Anniversary.
One highlight of their celebration - to bring joy to the less privileged.
The group spent some three hours interacting with beneficiaries from the Grace Orchard School, MINDS, Bukit Batok Home for the Aged, Moral Welfare Home and Jamiyah Children`s Home.
The youths, aged between 18 and 30, are participants of the 34th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP). The annual programme seeks to broaden their international outlook and foster greater understanding among youths from Japan and ASEAN.
The ship will be here till November 11 before calling at Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
The SSEAYP participants were later hosted to a welcome dinner by the Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
