Kuala Lumpur - Asean foreign ministers will meet in Jakarta on Monday to discuss the new schedule for the 14th Asean Summit and related summits, the Foreign Ministry said.
The meeting, to be held at the Asean Secretariat, will be chaired by Thailand, the ministry said in a statement.
The meeting follows the postponement of the summit, which is supposed to take place in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from Dec 15-17 due to the ongoing crisis in that country.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim will represent Malaysia.
The statement said that the Asean foreign ministers were also expected to discuss the operations of Asean`s new organs such as the Asean permanent representative committee and Asean community councils as well as current issues facing the grouping.
Asean groups together Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
