The Brunei Book Festival 2007 will be held for 10 days from Aug 27 until Sept 5 at the Muhibbah Hall of the Brunei-Muara district office in Berakas.
The festival is organised by the Village Consultative Councils of Kg Tasik Meradun, Kg Bunut, Kg Bunut Perpindahan, Kg Madewa and Telanai in collaboration with the Mosque committee of Kg Bunut in conjunction with His Majesty‘s 61st birthday.
The festival acts as a platform to inculcate the habit of reading and promoting the use of ICT.
The festival is expected to be launched by the Minister of Home Affairs on Aug 27 at 2.30pm and the closing ceremony will be held on Sept 4 at 8pm.
Other sideline activities to be held during the festival include a colouring competition for children and a Jawi writing contest. Another interesting event to look forward to is the oratory competition for Muslim youths.
The organisers have also called on principals and headmasters of schools throughout the four districts to arrange students to visit the festival.

The closing date to submit entry forms is on Aug 17.
Apart from books, the festival will also showcase computer-related products and other up-to-date equipment in ICT.
The organisers have so far received more than 30 entries from book stores and computer companies to showcase their products at the festival.
