Singapore - A grand concert was held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium Friday evening, to mark the start of the Singapore Youth Festival.
Guest of Honour, Education Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam was present at the event.
Touted as the biggest indoor opening ceremony in Singapore, the event included a myriad of performances lasting more than two hours in total.
Among the performers were a boy band, Malay dancers, and youths playing drums.
Students from more than 10 schools, including those from Malaysia and Thailand, took part in the concert.
The month-long festival is aimed at forging companionship and teamwork, with organisers downplaying the element of competition.
