Unique Showcase at Green Concert

Petaling Jaya - Expect a one-of-a-kind showcase of entertainment and celebrity support for the environment – this is the promise from Erra Fazira to all who make their way to the SuriaFM Green Every Day 2007 Concert on Saturday.

“It will be a big and fantastic event involving over 50 artistes from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and West Asia,” she said.

“And the best part is, the concert will also help promote greater environmental awareness. It`s definitely not to be missed.”

Erra added that it would provide a great carnival atmosphere for the family to take part in the various activities and also visit the various booths set up there.

A full-fledged “greenie” herself, the singer-actress expressed concern that Malaysians were not doing enough to help preserve Mother Earth.

“It just isn`t right the way some people are inconsiderate about protecting nature. We should make it our responsibility every day and take up activities like recycling and energy renewal,” she said.

The concert is in conjunction with The Star and SuriaFM`s “Green Every Day 2007” campaign, and will be held at the parking lot of the Bukit Jalil Stadium from 8pm to midnight. Admission is free.

Similar Environment Day concerts will also be held simultaneously in London, Istanbul, Sydney, New York, Tokyo, Rio De Janeiro, Hamburg, Johannesburg and Shanghai on the same day.

Other celebrities expected to lend their star appeal at the Bukit Jalil event are Ramli Sarip, Faizal OIAM, Dayang Nurfaiezah and Indonesian artistes Slank, Titi DJ, Nia Ramadhani and Nicholas Saputra.

The concert will also pay tribute to the late Loganathan Arumugam, founder member of the Alleycats, who died of lung cancer recently, and will be aired live over SuriaFM, mStar Online and The Star website.

Those in Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei can watch the delayed telecast of the concert on Astro Ria the following day.
