Students explore Brunei`s past

Bandar Seri Begawan - A group of 104 students and six teachers from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Arabic Religious Secondary Girls School (SUAMPRIPAD) went on an educational trip to Makam Di Luba, Malay Technology Museum as well as the Brunei Museum.

Tuesday`s trip was organised by the school`s History Department as one of the year-end activities for students. The visit was to create awareness and an appreciation of Brunei`s historical past among the younger generation as well as to enhance students` interest in learning history as a subject.

The group`s first stop was Makam di Luba, located on Luba Island next to the Damuan River. Makam di Luba is the mausoleum of Sultan Husin Kamaluddin, the 16th Sultan of Brunei and the second son of Sultan Haji Muhammad Ali, the 12th Sultan of Brunei.

The Malay Technology Museum in Kota Batu was the next stop. The museum has 3 main exhibition halls which showcase the lifestyle of Bruneians in bygone days. Exhibits include traditional methods of house-building, fishing, boat making, metalworking and gold smelting.

At the last stop, the Brunei Museum, they explored the many aspects of Brunei`s history and culture in themed galleries integrated with multimedia.
