Singapore to host Southeast Asia`s largest art auction

Singapore - Some 560 art pieces by Southeast Asian and Chinese artists will be auctioned off this weekend at The Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel.

This will be Southeast Asia`s largest auction.

The total value of the pieces is estimated at S$15 million.

Heading the list of Southeast Asia works are pieces by well-known Indonesian contemporary artist Masriadi.

Art connoisseurs and investors have begun taking interest in Southeast Asia contemporary art due to its investment potential.

Its prices are still low compared to that of Chinese artworks.

In Southeast Asia, Indonesia is the most prominent and prolific exporter of art, followed by the Philippines and Thailand.
