Bandar Seri Begawan- Though there are differences between the Chinese and Malay population of Brunei Darussalam, both communities share the common faith of the Sultanate`s culture and traditions.
Sharing the same patriotic sense and allegiance towards His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam under the proud banner of the nation`s Malay Islamic Monarchy philosophy, Tiong Hua society members showed up in large numbers yesterday for a goodwill meeting at the Islamic Dakwah Centre.
The Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Hj Awg Md Zain bin Hj Awg Serudin, said that yesterday`s meeting was very meaningful.
Pehin Kapitan Laila Diraja Goh King Chin, who led the Tiong Hua society yesterday, said that the goodwill meeting gave people the opportunity to interact in a friendly venue.
He said that both parties support the "2035 Vision", which was announced by His Majesty. One of the goals of this vision is to abolish poverty.
Pehin Goh added that the Chinese community is always willing to provide any form of assistance to ensure that this vision will be realised.
Hosted by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the meeting was aimed at strengthening ties between staff of the Islamic Dakwah Centre and members of the Chinese society. It was also a friendly way of preaching Islam to non-Muslims. - Rohani Hj Abd Hamid
