Surabaya - Four Royal Australian Navy (RAN) ships are scheduled to visit two major cities in Indonesia soon.
Project manager of AusAID BRIDGE Program (Building Relations through Inter-cultural Dialog and Growing Engagement), Josephine Ratna, said here on Wednesday that the visit to Indonesia by four RAN ships was intended to cultivate Indonesia-Australian friendship.
She said two of RAN ships, namely HMAS Success and HMAS Arunta, were scheduled to arrive at Makassar port in South Sulawesi on Friday, September 24, 2010.
"The two of the four Australian Navy ships are expected to arrive at Hatta container port in Makassar at 9.30 Central Indonesia Standard Time (WIT) on Friday morning, Josephine said.
While two other ships, namely HMAS Tobruk and HMAS Toowoomba, would arrive at Tanjung Perak port in Surabaya, East Java, on Saturday, September 25.
She said HMAS Tobruk and HMAS Toowoomba would berth at Jamrud Utara pier at Tanjung Perak at 9.30 Western Indonesia Standard Time (WIB) on Saturday morning.
"We will also let the students in Makassar and Surabaya to visit the Australian Navy ships," Josehpine said.
She said BRIDGE would give an opportunity to the students in the two cities to visit the ships from 9 am to 3 pm local time.
AII/Myer Foundation/AusAID BRIDGE Program (Building Relations through Intercultural Dialogue and Growing Engagement) is currently the AII`s largest program.
The BRIDGE program has been operating successfully since 2008 and is managed by the AII in conjunction with the Asia Education Foundation.
The AII has received funds from The Myer Foundation and AusAID to support the program.
The BRIDGE program is an innovative education project which funds visits by Indonesian teachers to Australian schools and supports development of school e-twinning and an online collaborative curriculum strategy between Australian and Indonesian schools.(*)
