Putrajaya - Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein will visit three SEAMEO (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation) centres of excellence during his three-day visit to Indonesia starting tomorrow.
He will be using the visit to learn the best practices deployed by SEAMEO members, including having a closer look at the open learning programme and long-distance education offered by the SEAMEO Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMOLEC) in Jakarta.
"My visit to the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Community Nutrition will give me the chance to have a closer look at the training programme and nutritional research,” Hishammuddin who is also the SEAMEO president said in a statement here today.
The visit will also give him an insight into nutritional best practices including food cleanliness to prevent food poisoning in schools.
He will also visit the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (BIOTROP) in Bogor to understand the development of a stable tropical ecosystem.
Hishammuddin will also make a courtesy call on Indonesian Education Minister Prof Dr Bambang Sudibyo to discuss issues affecting member countries particularly the impact of the high oil price on education.
The SEAMEO president will also present a keynote address at the "Workshop On Strengthening Educational Quality In Southeast Asia Through Networking And Partnership" in Yogyakarta on Aug 7.
