Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam - Maktab Duli PMAMB held a Culture Day on Tuesday. Its theme was `Smile & Greet'. Organised by the Public Relations (PR) Prefects with the collaboration of student councillors and other prefects, the Culture Day was a success.
The guest of honour was the college's Acting Principal, Marina Chek binti Bujang. Also present were Deputy Principal Academics, Joanna Lim Jok Hon, Deputy Principal Administration, Pg Hjh Mashayu Pg Hj Yusof, the senior master and mistress of the Student Affairs Section, Hj Affendy Hj Kassim, Faridah Hj Abdul Hamid and Hj Ali Sohpian Hi Md Noor, lecturers and students.
Speaking at the opening ceremony as the Head of PR, Nikita Ramchandani. She highlighted that the campaign was to ensure students learn the local tradition and culture.
"We share some of the things traditionally associated with Brunei, for example, traditional games, original cakes of Brunei, songs and devices connected to the traditions of our country," she added.
She said that the campaign also aimed to create a culture of pleasantries and politeness. In addition, the campaign will also make Maktab Duli a comfortable place to study and work.
Various activities, such as poetry recital, story telling, video introducing all kinds of traditional foods, quizes on heritage and performances by the college's Traditional Dance Club entertained the attendees.
The main highlight of the campaign was traditional games competition such as `Permainan Pasang', `Congkak', `Lompat Getah', ‘Simban' and many others. There were also games of competition between houses and Indera was the overall champion. Setia as 1st runner up, followed by Kesuma and Putera. -- Courtesy of Brudirect's News
